"People say that eyes are Windows to the soul" I really like how the author put this together. When i read this i instantly thought about how every single thing that we see can affect how we think of things. If we didnt have eyes how could we have an imaginTion, wed be empty inside. Wed have feelings but not know why. This passage really made me think about how important our eyes aré to us.

The Kite Runner #1
Amir the main character seems very suspicious. He left me wondering about what exactly went on in that mysterious year of 1975. So far he doesnt give any clues. The other thing that left me puzzeled as well was when he started talking about the kites, and how they reminded him of his friend Hassan becasuse of his lip. What does a kite have to do with his friends lip? Maybe it could symbolize his friend Hassans freedom. This passage left me wondering.

The ending of this book was extremely shocking! I can't believe Janie shot and killed Tea cake. Wow...it must have took a lot of courage to do that to the love of your life. If janie wouldnt of killed him Tea cake would of killed her because he had raibies and was completely nuts. Janie also talks about wraping herself with the horizon which left me puzzled i did not understand why she said that.

"She tore of the kerchief from her head and let down her plentiful hair. The weight, the length , the glory was there" pg. 87 This passage was very strong and meaningful to me. That kerchief that she had on her head symbolized no hope, emptiness, like a jail cell. Janies hair to me symbolizes freedom, when she was with jody she always had to wear that kerchief because she was jailed by him. Now that she has taken that horrible rag off her head she can finally be free.

Ch. 7 has got to be my favorite chapter so far. It made me extremely happy when Janie had the courage to talk back to Jody, after all of those years of silence, of neglect. This shows that Janie still has that fighting spark inside of her, a side that she hasnt shown in a while! She's already forty so time passed by really quick! My favorite was passage was....." Humph! Talkin' 'bout me lookin' old! When you pull down yo' britches, you look lak de change uh life." pg. 79. When Janie chose to talk back to Jody this started a new change in her life, hope that the old fun and energetic Janie can come back . She made fun of him infront of people of the town, humiliating him with the subject that most men are sensitive about! GOOOO JANIE!!! she really nailed it with this one.

This part of the book made me really happy for Janie. When she met Joe Starks, she describes him as a handsome guy and i can't believe that she had the courage to leave Logan! It made me happy because Janie deserves better and Logan was not making her happy he pretty much made her grow up way to fast. Joe starks seems like a good man and he seems really smart since he wants to make his own town. He seems a like a confident man because if he's willing to take the responsibility to run his own town, then he's going to have to set some time aside for Janie.
I found it very rude when Joe did not let Janie give her speech, his excuse was that women don't give speeches. SO then what are we supposed to do? Be quiet all the time!!! This is a sign of Joe being a controlling freak. Hopefully Janie won't let him dominate her life. This chapter really made me mad.

Its so sad that Nanny had to die even though she did die knowing that her granddaughter was in good hands. From what i am reading its as though Janie doesnt like Logan because shes young and old men and teens dont mesh, especially if that old man your married to has feet that smell like death and rotten eggs. Poor Janie has to stay home and work 24/7 because thats what Logan is used to doing. I love this book so far!
TEWWG
I was shocked when nanny told Janie that she had to marry Logan kilicks, just because she kissed Johnny Taylor!!!! Nanny really went over board. Poor Janie now has to live with an old saggy man. Even though he does have a ton of money for a colored person especially in those days when the white man dominated everything. Janie doesnt really have a say in this decision that her grandma has made for her, her Nanny feels as though she has found a good catch for janie when in reality Janie deserves much more than that old fart.

TEWWG
The language of the book is also very confusing. But at the same time i think that it makes this book really special because it makes us visualize how the characters are speaking and since their in the south it makes it funny. Im starting to really like this book, and Zora Neale Hurst really nailed it with all these Yall's and Tuh's i find the book very apealing and funny!
TEWWG
The Blossoming pear tree confuses me. In the book it says that Janie likes to sit under it and just stares at it. To me it sounds like a very nice tree but why mention it with such passion with such hope. I think that Janie is just like that Blossoming Pear tree, but i dont completely know how at this moment.
TEWWG
Janie was raised by her grandma, and her grandma lived with white people. Since Janie was surrounded by white kids she also thought she was white, until they took a picture of her with the white kids and she realized that she was not white, but black. The adversity that Janie as a child had to face is quite strong because her parents left her, and now she realizes that shes not the same color as her friends. I can't even imagine how it must have felt for her to realize that the little girl she was pointing to was her, especially when she was the only dark skinned in the picture.
TEWWG
By the looks of it Janie was once married, her husband died. He didnt leave her like those other women say he did and she has come back because she was not happy in the place she lived. It confuses me how she came back in a pair of dirty overalls as though she has not taken a shower. This chapters brings a lot of questions to my head. Why would she come back to a town were women are talking bad about her? What happened to Tea cake? Why is Phoebe so nice to her? What and where are the Everglades, and how did she end up there?
Their eyes were watching god
The beginning of this book confuses me because its supposed to be the ending of the book, but instead its the beginning of the book! I was also puzzled by the way it starts women talking bad about her, saying that her husband left her for a younger woman. And Phoebe looks like a very nice lady because she invited her to her home and even had something baked for her.
what is the What
The ending of this book made me proud of Achak. I was sad that it ended but happy because Achak got his things straight. He realized that he cannot be a victim no longer, he has to stand up for his rights not let anyone put him down. His language is very powerful and straight forward, so secure of himself and this is something i have been waiting to hear throughout the book. This man has suffered so much and deserves a better life, and i believe he will have a better life.
What is the What
Achak talks about wanting to go to school over here in America, to be able to wear a uniform and laugh for no reason. Since i have lived it pretty much my whole life i take it for granted but he doesnt he says that he wishes he could have no worry. But his past impedes that he has suffered to much, has been a victim for far to long. The way he describes us kids is careless and in a way we are. This passage really made me think about my life, and how i sometimes take things for granted.
What is the What
" The pain is not great, but the symbolism is disagreeable" I agree with this. How can that kid not show any remorse or guilt! He clearly sees that he has a man abducted and he still has the nerve to hit him with a phonebook? Achak is so innocent thinking that the kid is going to help him, hes even thinking of saving the kid but with that horrible slap in the face Achak feels horrible, i would to! That poor kid has been trained just like those kids in Sudan were trained, he is a victim that was trained by his parents to do harm to others. What happened in Sudan doesnt only happen there but here in America as well.
What is the What
I was shocked when i read about the kids being used. The way Achak mentions that they took away their childhood, and made them into machines of death, of sympathy, a weapon to attract people so that they could later be killed. Its horrible how these young kids were treated, they had no other choice but to stand these punishments because as a young child they could not decide for themseleves. There is so many heartless people out there.
What is the What
Amath seems to be Achaks most prized possesion. The way that he describes her is so sweet and at the same time so cute! "Did i love her more than any other?" Its so cool how are own parents can tell when we are in love, Achaks father already knew what he was coming for when he came rushed into the store, without even asking him. I hope this Amath girl and achak can reunite and if they have hooooray!
What is the what
Its so sweet how Achak wants to guard that bike. Even though he does not get paid to do it, he just wants to guard the bike so he could stare at it. It made me sad when i read this because over there they dont take anything for granted and over here some of us do. Im starting to really like this Achak character, hes a role model to all of us.
what is the what
When they are debating on what to do about the plastic it makes me have this sad feeling. Over here in America we dont really care about the plastic, well i dont....but the first thing i do is take the plastic off because i already know its for packaging purposes. But for them its a shield, a protection that will make their bike last longer, well Jok does. So i find it amazing how they are arguing if they should take the plastic off.
What is the What
Its so interesting how Achak describes the bike that he sees on Joks store. "It is easily the most spectacular object in all of Marial Bai" he then starts describing the color of it with such detail "The color of the frame.....a mixture of blue and green and white, swirled together as inn the deepest part of a river". I love how he compares the colors to the river, it makes me imagine this shiny bike. Achak says that it is the most beautiful obeject ever seen in his hometown, meaning that his home must have not had a lot of advanced technology. I love his use of imagery it makes this book that much more easy to read.
What is the what
On pg36 of the book they talk about cow shaping. Moses is the one most interested in this and achak does not understand why he does it, he says that they break easily. The thing that amazed me was that moses seemed to have patience, and if u have a pasión to do something even if its the most Boring or hardest thing to do if u like to do it then its the best thing to do. I can relate to moses because i like to stack cards together, and my Mom would always tell me why do it when in seconds it could fall down. Since i liked to do it, it was easy for me and i didnt Care if it fell, i just had to pick it up and start over.

What is the what
I dont understand why Achak lets those total strangers go to his House. And the fact that their screaming racial slurs to him is so unbelieveable because they aré to dar skin and those people aré not grTeful for the rights that they have due to their people who fought for their rights. Its the horrible truth and achak is surprised to see that in the Land were he came to be free is also dangerous.
